My laboratory studies the cellular and molecular mechanisms of brain injury in inflammatory and inflammation-associated disorders of the central nervous system. For this purpose, we focus on:


vascular triggers leading to the invasion of pathogenic lymphocytes into the normal and inflamed brain,


regulation of inflammatory and anti-inflammatory processes at the level of cell surface molecules, and


cellular mechanisms regulating injury or survival/regeneration of neurons in areas affected by inflammation.
