Our laboratory employs morphological, immunological and biochemical methodology to study protein expression and localization in salivary glands. Current areas of interest are:

--microgravity effects on structure and protein expression in salivary glands;

--the localization of salivary proteins in human salivary glands; and

--the expression, localization and function of cyclic AMP-binding proteins in salivary glands and saliva.

Not Accepting Students for Lab Rotations At This Time

Lab Rotation Projects

The current research in my laboratory involves the use of light and electron microscopy and immunocytochemistry to study salivary gland structure and protein expression and localization. Students desiring experience with the preparation and analysis of specimens using these techniques may participate in the following ongoing projects:Project #1: Analysis of the effects of microgravity on the structure and protein expression in salivary glands of mice using quantitative immunocytochemical methods.Project #2: Distribution and localization of proteins in human salivary glands.
