Dermatopathology

Dr. Murphy is a professor of dermatology and dermatopathology, attending dermatopathologist, and director of the Immunopathology Laboratory within the Department of Dermatology at the UConn Health Center. He graduated from the medical school at University College Dublin, Ireland. Dr. Murphy completed his residency and chief residency in anatomic pathology at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, and his fellowship in dermatopathology at Albany Medical College, Albany, NY. His research focuses on molecular technologies in the diagnosis and management of skin disorders, and the education of residents and fellows on this subject. Molecular Diagnostics in Dermatology and Dermatopathology written by Dr. Murphy, is the first textbook of its kind. It presents the basics of molecular biology and molecular diagnostic methods most commonly used in the clinical laboratory, with an emphasis on the concepts and testing most relevant to skin diseases.
