Dr. Albertsen received his B.A. from Princeton University in 1974 and his M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1978. After two years of surgical training at Harvard’s Deaconess Hospital in Boston he completed his residency training in urology at the Johns Hopkins University Brady Urological Institute in 1984. He subsequently received an M.S. in medical administration and preventative medicine from University of Wisconsin in 1990. Board certified in urology since 1986, he has re-certified in 1994 and 2004. Dr. Albertsen has obtained an international reputation for his work on prostate cancer and is the author of numerous publications. He is on the editorial board of several journals and frequently reviews manuscripts for the major urological journals. Furthermore, he holds the prestigious honor of having been a trustee of the American Board of Urology 2001-2007, as well as a member of the Residency Review Committee of ACGME for Urology 2003-2009. He is a member of the American Urological Association, American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons and the Society of Urologic Oncology amongst others. Dr. Albertsen practices general urology with a focus on prostate and urologic cancers.
