I completed my DDS, MSc, and PhD at the Bauru School of Dentistry, University of São Paulo (FOB-USP), and have built my career as a clinician, professor, and researcher in Orthodontics. Prior to joining the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Connecticut, I served as a Full Professor and Program Director in Brazil at UNOPAR and UNIDERP. I joined UConn as a Research Instructor in 2024 and currently serve as an Assistant Professor. Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in mentoring dental students and trainees, as well as in developing clinical and research initiatives in Orthodontics. One of the main reasons I chose UConn was the opportunity to participate in an innovative clinical research project that combines clinical orthodontic findings with proteomic analyses. This cutting-edge research has the potential to improve our understanding of the biological mechanisms involved in Orthodontic tooth movement and contribute to the development of more personalized and predictable treatments. Another important factor was UConn’s outstanding reputation. UConn is internationally recognized as a leader in Orthodontic education and research, bringing together exceptional faculty, researchers, and clinicians.
