Dr. Scott Mallozzi is an associate professor of orthopedic and spine surgery at UConn Health. His practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of spinal conditions, both surgical and nonsurgical.
Dr. Mallozzi completed his undergraduate degree at Boston College and his medical degree at New York Medical College. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at UConn Health, where he quickly realized he wanted to remain and practice.
Dr. Mallozzi completed a spine surgery fellowship at Brown University in Providence, RI, under the mentorship of Drs. Mark Palumbo, Phil Lucas, and Alan Daniels. At Brown, he learned advanced open spine techniques for trauma, deformity, tumors, and degenerative conditions. Dr. Mallozzi is deeply grateful to his mentors for helping him hone his surgical and clinical skills and for the exceptional training he received.
When Dr. Mallozzi returned to UConn Health to join the orthopedic spine surgery team, his desire to return to UConn was fueled by the allure of a strong team of partners and mentors, as well as the opportunity to train residents and fellows as the next generation of orthopedic and spine surgeons. Working with trainees provides the ultimate job satisfaction.
Today, Dr. Mallozzi’s practice treats a wide range of degenerative conditions along the spinal axis and uses both traditional open and MIS techniques. He participates in clinical spine research and continues to greatly enjoy the variety of conditions and patients we are able to help at UConn Health.
